A Weekend for Yes!

I was recently invited to a dear friends 50th birthday party. I wanted to go, so of course I said YES! This is where many of us instantly get a pit in our stomach and start dreaming of ways to get out of our commitment. “I can’t find a dog sitter” or “I can’t get off work…I’m too busy.” It didn’t help when my friend sent a note saying that the dress code for the weekend was “Sexy as fu**!” I mean I live in my sweats if I’m not at work. And my work clothes are not sexy by any stretch of the imagination. The battle between my YES and my fear was off and running.

In the end I went to the party. I spent a beautiful weekend in wine country with my girlfriends from high school. The party can best be described as stepping on stage at Cirque du Soleil and getting caught up in the acrobats and excitement. An intoxicating mix of sexy and psychedelic. Surrounded by the beautiful people of wine country, each one welcoming and friendly. I can’t believe there was a part of me that was willing to give this up!

The best moments in life are experienced when we stop wanting to be comfortable and start saying YES!
