Notice the Shine

How much energy must it take to choose to identify with the negative?!?! "Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness" said someone. I'm not sure if it’s all the stress people are under because of COVID, the fires, or the elections, but I have heard some pretty unbelievable stories of people holding hard lines against lifelong friends recently. And FYI, none of those fights have been about COVID, the fires, or the elections!


I think the challenges come when a party, who may have a valid reason for being upset, chooses to not speak openly about how they feel. They hold that stuff in and then it presents itself in inappropriate ways, like name calling or ghosting. I wonder how things might have been different if the wronged party had spoken up and let their friend know how they felt at that time. Even more importantly, I wonder how things would have been different if they focused on the amazingly right things about their friend.

Everyone has their own unique perspective. Sometimes an intense focused effort is instigated to keep our own “house” clean spiritually, mentally, and physically. As it is up to every individual to be accountable for their own self care and self protection, especially in these stressful times. Because we can’t be anything to others until we can be those things to ourselves. Perhaps it’s just possible that an individual is not “ghosting”, rather simply vacating emotionally volatile interactions. In other words self-preservation at all costs.
