Recovery Doesn't Always Mean Happy

I'm supposed to be happier now, right? I'm supposed to see the sun shining brighter and the breeze feeling warmer. People are supposed to like me more. Nope! One of hardest things I've learned in my recovery is that the pain lasts a little longer and the people I want to like me might not give a damn. But guess what??? I like me more. I'm proud of me, even when I don't get it totally right. Why? Because I'm aware of what my brain says to do. And I'm aware of what I actually do. Yep, today I'm winning even if my heart is broken!
